Hastings and East SussexCreative Partnerships, Hastings and East Sussex began in April 2005 with four staff members and a team of creative agents in our 21 core schools. Now, in spring 2007, partnerships are mid-way through a three-year programme of activity. Relationships with 16 of our valued creative partners continue, and we welcome new partnerships with 20 more creative practitioners. It's rewarding to note that 50 creative partners, mostly from across East Sussex, have now worked in our schools. Involving a further 20 schools, our strategic programmes have emerged since September 2006. Programmes include Culture Shared, a partnership between 11 specialist schools and 11 cultural organisations, who, together, will realise 11 unique projects across East Sussex. An exciting pilot programme, The Newz Crew, partners local Observer newspaper group and schools in Hastings, Rye and Bexhill to develop young people's journalism skills. In September 2007 Creative Careers will be piloted to develop links with the creative cultural sector and enable Hastings and Rother schools to work with HE and FE partners. Our professional development programme has also been going from strength to strength. We offer a significant number of events, free seminars and opportunities to support a wide network of creative and cultural practitioners and school staff.
