Stoke on Trent

Home to around 240,000 people, Stoke-on-Trent has developed significantly in a short time. In 80 years the City has grown from six towns to become a modern urban centre. Stoke has a strong identity, grounded in its industrial legacy, its long-established distinctive local communities, and the tradition of creativity that grew from its world famous ceramics industry. The major social and economic issues arising from the decline of its traditional industries are being addressed by programmes of regeneration, and investment in the City's development is now at a high level.
