Award winning playwright and actor Kwame Kwei-Armah recently visited City and Islington College and Daniel House Pupil Referral Unit in Hackney. By speaking with students and teachers as well as the Creative Partnerships East London team Kwame was able to gain a strong understanding of the way Creative Partnerships London East and South successfully collaborate and create partnerships with practitioners to cater for the individual needs of each school.
Kwame will be working with students from City & Islington sixth form college on an extract from his play Fix Up, originally performed at the National Theatre in 2005.
This performance will be showcased in 2007. More details to follow shortly.
'Well, where to start? Meeting Kwame has been an experience that I won't forget because he gave me a deeper understanding of the term 'making it' as a performer. To sum it up in so many words, Kwame emphasised that you never 'make it' because as an performer you are always striving for perfection.'

'I really enjoyed meeting Kwame because as an aspiring actor it was so beneficial to meet someone who is successful in their craft, and who could give me some pointers on how to be a stronger and more creative actress.'
