'Learning should be fun and productive - it needs to be something young people are switched on by. In my experience there is no better way to achieve this than to work on creative projects that use the expertise of artists or other people in exciting ways. Creative Partnerships is one initiative that sets out to do this.'

'Creative Partnerships is providing exactly what so many young people and indeed teachers need nowadays; encouragement, inspiration and the confidence to believe in their capabilities and enjoy their achievements.'

'Creative Partnerships provides young people with new and exciting opportunities for learning, through first hand contact with creative artists and individuals.  The process empowers young people to get involved from the beginning, taking responsibility and making decisions about the type of project they want to undertake and the artists they want to work with. This can bring an added dimension to education, helping young people to achieve beyond their expectations, and to discover new things about themselves and the world through their own creativity.'

I find it extremely important to encourage and support young people, because creativity comes from within and not entirely externally or through text books. I truly believe that creativity is about imagination, and what better imagination can one have than young people... I remember when I first had the opportunity to experience performances by the Netherlands Dance Theatre and Pina Bausche. It was the most moving thing I had ever witnessed so early in my career. It inspired me to imagine from within myself and my future works. To support organizations which help to provide a platform for young people is crucial for the progress of all artforms - if imagination stops, then the progress of art will stop, if the progress of art stops then hope will stop and if hope stops, then what meaning is there in our lives...

'There are hundreds of thousands of young people in the UK with a passion for all genres of music. By bringing young people together with professional composers, songwriters, performers, artists and the agencies which support them, Creative Partnerships is helping to ensure that these young people can experience a new approach to learning which may direct them to a fulfilling and creative career.

'It's about making an active connection - giving young people the chance to work with professional artists they can relate to artistically, culturally and socially. I benefit as much as the young people I work with.'

'It is unrealistic to expect the school system to show all that pass through it how to realise their full potential, particularly if it lies in a non-traditional or creative industry. Creative Partnerships helps to show young people what can be possible in these fields by showing them valuable examples, and offering them the chance to meet and work alongside people currently working successfully in these fields. It may be just this tiniest spark is all that is required.'
