Drama Practitioner required for Brighton and Hove Enquiry School
£200 a day
Closing date: 22 Feb 2010
Middle Street Primary School is a one form community school, situated in the centre of Brighton, with a flourishing arts curriculum. We are a popular and thriving school, consistently oversubscribed, which parents choose because of the caring, friendly and highly creative atmosphere, excellent teaching, inclusive ethos and high levels of attainment. The pupils come from a diversity of social, economic and cultural backgrounds, with relatively high levels of economic deprivation, together with children from more economically prosperous families.
We are looking for a Drama Practitioner to work with Years 4 and 6 (ages 7 - 11) in partnership with teachers to develop creative approaches that will help us to investigate the following enquiry focus:
‘To what extent can ‘The Mantle of the Expert’ embedded within Learning Journeys, be used to develop children's talk, broaden their collaborative and communication skills and deepen their learning?’
We began to explore Mantle of the Expert independently of Creative Partnerships last year with Key Stage 1 and are looking to further develop this concept across Key Stage 2. We are particularly interested in embedding numeracy at the core of this creative learning journey. Expertise in Mantle of the Expert will be essential, as will an ability to translate skills and knowledge in a child friendly manner.
We are looking for our Creative Partner to work directly in our school for at least 10 days and up to 15 days. We are keen for our practitioner to be involved in all planning towards the end of the spring term with a view to starting the project after Easter.
Daily fee: £200 including travel and expenses. There will be a separate budget for materials.
