Bright Space recruits 79 Schools onto the Enquiry School Programme
5 Jan 2010
Bright Space has successfully recruited 79 schools from
Birmingham (33 KB)
Herefordshire (29 KB)and
Worcestershire (30 KB) onto the Creative Partnerships Enquiry School programme.
The Enquiry School Programme, delivered by Bright Space, offers funding to schools, enabling them to explore an ‘enquiry’, which has been highlighted in their school development/improvement plan, in addition to assistance from a Creative Agent (an arts professional), who will support the school to develop their ‘enquiry’ project further.
This year, enquiries include:
- Would a more creative approach to the design of our outdoor spaces improve attendance?
- Can involvement in creative projects allow newly arrived children accelerate their learning?
- How can poetry and photography influence and motivate pupils’ creative writing?
- How can we further develop community cohesion through participation in the arts?
Schools taking part in the Enquiry School programme last year worked with a variety of creative professionals including; glassmakers, dancers, engineers and botanists.
Deborah Kermode, Bright Space Director said: ‘This year we have been delighted by the ‘enquiries’ that are planned with schools. The Enquiry School programme enables schools to support their current learning in a courageous way, enabling them to look at new and exciting approaches, benefiting teachers, young people and their communities at large. We look forward to assisting the selected schools on their journeys.’
