Area Delivery Organisation: The Mighty Creatives
Young People from schools across Derby attended a groundbreaking showcase event celebrating creative learning in Derby schools working with Creative Partnerships.
Iris Event Management (young people from Murray Park School) organised the Evolution event and hosted over 540 delegates at the Assembly Rooms in Derby City centre. A fantastic atmosphere with an array of performances, exhibitions and creative workshops shared and celebrated the creative work in Derby schools delivered through the Creative Partnerships programme.
Bob Wilson, a local author, provided a keynote address discussing the importance of creativity within the curriculum and as an everyday part of the lives of young people. “It’s been an honour to be at the Evolution event and it’s all the more remarkable because it has been organised by young people” he said.
Caroline Barth, Creative Director of Creative Partnerships Derby said she was delighted with the event: “Young people don’t often get the credit they deserve and Evolution is a shining example of what they can achieve,” she said.
Iris are twenty young people based at Murray Park school, this project has been part of their business studies and has formed part of their GCSE coursework.
