New Schools join the Creative Partnerships programme

30 Jul 2010

Dozens of pupils and teachers at schools across the county are celebrating after being selected as a Creative Partnerships School.

Schools were selected with the support of Northamptonshire County Council; Leicester City and Leicestershire County Council; CfBT Lincolnshire School Improvement Service; Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council; Derby City and Derbyshire County Council; and Rutland County Council.

The schools will work with The Mighty Creatives (TMC), the young people’s creative development agency for the East Midlands, who deliver the government’s flagship creative learning programme, Creative Partnerships.

Hugh James, Director of Learning for TMC, said, “We’re very pleased to be welcoming new schools to participate in the Creative Partnerships programme.

"This year’s recruitment workshops showed the wealth of confident and articulate young people we have in the East Midlands. We were impressed by the commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism of the young panellists and those taking part in the presentations, and this helped the selection process to not only be successful, but also enjoyable for all."

He added, "We’re looking for another 62 schools to join the Enquiry School programme this autumn so if you’re interested please get in touch!"

Some of the schools will be working on an Enquiry project which will see them working with TMC for a one year period on a specific creative learning project linked to the broader educational needs of the school. We’ll help pair the schools up with a creative professional to investigate how they can improve an aspect of teaching and learning through a creative learning project potentially working with selected pupils or year group.
