Young Communicators wanted
11 May 2010
Area Delivery Organisation: The Mighty Creatives
The Mighty Creatives has teamed up with Find Your Talent to offer young people the chance work on a communications project over the summer.
Five young people attended the first planning session at the LCB Depot in March and decided on the idea of a magazine.
The session was led by John Coster (Citizens Eye/Leicester Mercury) and Tina Barton (Wotbox Consultancy) and included tips, techniques and tasks on putting a publication together. The group also discussed the need for a publication dedicated to arts and culture for young people aged 11-19 years profiling and promoting what’s on and where across the city and county.
We are planning 6 special ‘skills sessions’ for up to 15 young people over the summer holidays that will culminate in the production of a one-off 16 page youth arts and culture magazine, written by, with and for, other young people.
As part of our on-going recruitment and promotion of this project FYT and TMC will be posting mini-assignments on our respective Facebook pages. These will give young people the chance to get creative from writing articles and reviews, to taking photographs and designing artwork, which may feature in the final publication.
YOU can get involved too!
There’s still time to get involved as we’re recruiting until the end of May. If you know of any young person aged 13-19 interested, willing and able to get involved then please contact Manisha Bhayani at manisha@themightycreatives.com
