The Mighty Creatives

Named by and run with children and young people, The Mighty Creatives is the young people's creative development agency for the East Midlands. Launched in April 2009, our programmes and partnerships prepare children and young people for a lifetime of leadership, innovation and enterprise by giving them creative skills to drive positive change in their lives and communities.

We believe creative children and young people are integral to the region's success, both now and in the future. They can use their imaginations to address the region's priorities, driving forward innovation in schools, communities, business and the environment. Our challenge is to ensure adults want this to happen.

The Mighty Creatives team works across the East Midlands to support local partnerships and programmes, which include Creative Partnerships, Find Your Talent, Journal Project 2009-2012, MLA and Ignition.

The East Midlands covers the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland, and the unitary authorities of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. This makes it an extremely diverse region, socially, economically and ethnically, and schools currently participating in the Creative Partnerships programme reflect this, from large urban secondaries to small rural primaries.

We aim to put creative young people at the heart of:

  • successful schools and children's centres
  • safe and stronger communities
  • a thriving economy
  • a vibrant cultural offer

We do this by:

  • gaining a better understanding of young lives
  • building systems and structures for youth participation
  • building innovative and trusted partnerships with other organisations and individuals across the East Midlands
