Hillview help the Homeless

18 Mar 2010

Creative and Media Diploma Students at Hillview School for Girls, a Creative Partnerships Change School in Tonbridge, Kent, were given the task of putting on a fundraiser to help raise money and awareness for the Bridge Trust, a charity which supports single homeless people in West Kent.

Fittingly, the students have hired well known Phil Collins tribute band ‘No Jacket Required’ who will be playing well known hits such as ‘In The Air Tonight’ and ‘Another Day In Paradise’. This unique event will take place in Tunbridge Wells Trinity Theatre on 25 March and has been organised from scratch by the students – even the press release which ensured the event made it into this newsletter was sent out by student Chloe Phare.

Under the guidance of teachers Mr Aston Smith (Assistant head) and Miss Lawton – Smith students have organised this event from start to finish, taking responsibility for all aspects of budgeting, marketing, dealing with the band and theatre.

Mr Aston Smith said that “the course has been revolutionary in giving students a unique learning opportunity, working with a range of industry professionals whilst gaining a valuable qualification at the same time. The students have worked very hard to produce a professional event for a good cause. An experience that will stay with them for the rest of their life.”
