Creative curriculum development at Guestling-Bradshaw Primary School
18 Feb 2010
Area Delivery Organisation: Creative Partnerships at the Centre for Community Engagement - Sussex and Surrey
Visual artist Sheridan Quigley and writer Rosemary Harris are working with the whole staff of Guestling-Bradshaw CE Primary School in East Sussex to develop creative approaches to the primary curriculum.
In October 2009 the school ran a half-day INSET in which the staff were challenged to review their practice and plan for a creative approach to a curriculum unit of their choice. Feedback from the INSET was great:
"Peter, Sheridan and Rosemary from the Creative Partnerships team led a hands-on, fun morning for staff at our school. At the end of the training we all felt enthused and confident to let go of our security blankets and be creative in our classes".
Interim reports of curriculum developments in the school are also very encouraging. The artists are following up the work done on this day with twilight review meetings in February and June of 2010.
