Area Delivery Organisation: Curious Minds – Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral, West Cheshire, Halton
Creative Partnerships Merseyside is pleased to announce that 26 Merseyside schools have successfully applied to become Change Schools.
A three year Change School programme designed to radically transform the performance of 26 schools on Merseyside by teaming them up with creative experts has begun.
The 26 schools will work in partnership with Creative Partnerships Merseyside and will share £375,000 funding from Creative Partnerships in the first year and will spend up to three years working with the organisation as part of the Change Schools programme. A creative agent will be assigned to help each one adopt new, creative approaches to transform learning and teaching.
CPM creative director Chris Finn said: “We know creative approaches can really make a difference to performance at all levels of school life. These new three year partnerships are a chance for us to significantly extend the work we’ve been doing elsewhere in the region.”
Liverpool City Council Principal Education Officer, Jim Arnold, said: “Improving children’s creative thinking skills is vital to the transformation of schools across Liverpool. Many of the schools who will work with CPM will also benefit from the broader investment in Building Schools for the Future.”
Palacefields Primary School (Runcorn) Head teacher Dianne Moran, said: “It is very easy to get uptight with the government’s exam agenda. We believe that some things are more important. There is real value in experimenting with the curriculum & working with these (CPM) agents to deliver creative, accelerated learning.”
