:: NewsIt can happen hereA street-stopping outdoor theatre spectacle On July 19th 2007 three large fabricated 'creatures' will animate the main highway from Wood Green to Turnpike Lane for an incredible street-stopping event. Creative Partnerships in conjunction with London Bubble Theatre Company, Pif-Paf Arts, Thingamajig Theatre, and Emergency Exits Arts have been working with 8 schools in Enfield and Haringey to create an extraordinary outdoor theatre spectacle. Inspired by Royal de Luxe's The Sultan's Elephant in central London in May 2006, It Can Happen Here brings together schools and artists for a similar public project to bring a surprising intervention to the everyday life of Haringey. In March 2007, the eight participating schools were confronted with a freight container, once home to large unidentifiable creatures. Having escaped through a hole in the side of this container the students are now tasked with luring, welcoming and comforting the creatures back to the Wood Green area. The students will create 'nutritional' offerings that will give the three escaped creatures the positive experiences they seek to return home - friendship, games, stimulation, healthy food and people they can trust - the same foundations of a happy and positive school. To join this exciting street stopping event come to the main highway from Wood Green to Turnpike Lane (the Broadway and High Road) on July 19th 2007 between 10.00 and 13.00. |
