:: NewsFirst Arts Award Celebration for Gloucestershire StudentsGloucestershire’s first young people's Arts Awards Celebration takes place on 3 August in Coleford, Forest of Dean, as part of the Lakers School Summer Arts Challenge Week. A number of young people from Arts Award settings in Gloucestershire are set to receive their Bronze and Silver Awards at the Forest Theatre on 3 August, after completing portfolios of work in a variety of art forms and having their work moderated. The evening itself will also showcase some of the work going on as part of the Award, showing how broad young people's attainment in the Arts Awards can be. Deb Cook, who co-ordinates the Award in the region, says: 'This event is a great way to mark and celebrate the achievements of all the youngsters working on their Awards, whether they are undertaking their portfolio work or collecting their Award. It's going to be a lovely occasion and a warm tribute to all the artistic activity going on everywhere.' With a host of displays of visual work, as well as performances from ‘'Engage' circus skills group and Found In The Forest Youth Theatre, new music from the 'Song to CD' Gifted and Talented Summer Challenge Week group, Lakers Steel Pan Band, English Immigrants and others, the event promises to be a colourful and entertaining one. The Award is an exciting new accredited qualification for 11-25 year olds which supports young people in their development as artists and arts leaders, and which can be delivered wherever young people take part in arts activities - Arts Award centres can include schools, youth arts projects, youth clubs and arts organisations. It is delivered by Arts Council England in partnership with Trinity Guildhall and supported by Canon UK. For more information about the Arts Awards, follow the link on the right. |
