:: NewsAlan Fletcher / Creative Partnerships Leicester, Creative Arena Leicester pupils build their 'Dream School' at unique Creative ArenaLeicester hosted a special event last month revealing how children and young people from across the city are at the heart of creative learning. Staged by young people for young people, the two-day Creative Arena at Walkers Stadium offered a chance for Creative Partnerships Leicester to celebrate and share learning from its groundbreaking schools programme. And as well as taking part in a host of creative learning exercises – from a school for jesters to a maths games show – around 300 children and young people were able to design their dream school, helping Leicester City Council shape its schools development programme. And inspiration was high on the curriculum. Schools not currently working with Creative Partnerships were able to visit the event to see for themselves how creativity is making a real difference to learning. Among the projects showcased was The Amozozo Luminarium, a giant inflatable ‘classroom’ inspired by Islamic architecture, which hosted workshops on both days. Transport was also laid on to Forest Lodge Primary School where an underused classroom had been transformed using state of the art sound and lighting equipment into a rainforest, complete with a canopy of trees and a waterfall. |
