Parents May Get Pickled

Creative Partnerships, Thames Gateway is delighted to announce the short residency of puppet makers Pickled Image at the Gateway Academy from 4 – 11 December. This is part of the Creative Partnerships programme, The Lab running at the Academy.

Pickled Image has an international reputation for producing visually stunning and highly original puppets for television, film, theatre and opera. Commissions have included the BBC and The Wright Stuff. The company will be working at The Gateway Academy to teach the students there basic puppetry and puppet-making skills.

During workshops run by Pickled Image, students will be able to make their own puppets and create an identity for them. These workshops aim to build confidence and self-esteem in young people by teaching them new creative skills.

Parents and carers will be invited into the school on Saturday 8 December and may get pickled! They will have an opportunity to work with their children and learn how to manipulate the puppets. The students will present a final presentation of their work on Monday 10 December.
