:: NewsJacqui Bellamy A Passion for Fashion: CP Design Competition in BDRArt students from Thomas Rotherham College compete to dress the borough in a CP design workshop. Art students from Thomas Rotherham College have taken on the role of Fashion Designers in a Creative Partnerships competition to produce the top t-shirt design for a target audience. For this ‘Creativity and Innovation’ workshop, the AS and A-level textiles pupils’ brief was to come up with a winning design aimed at one of four categories – primary school girl, primary school boy, secondary school girl and secondary school boy. The girls looked at magazines and the media before producing a ‘mood board’ with colours, textures and patterns to spark ideas. After three draft designs and a lot of creative discussion, the students set to work on their final idea while also considering the financial side of running a real business, including costs, pricing and time to market. During the final presentations the girls had to describe their chosen design before explaining how they had matched the brief by producing a t-shirt which their target audience might want to wear. The winning design will be sold through the Rotherham Ready website and the t-shirts will form part of the girls’ final coursework. |
