:: Creativity in education scholarship is unique in the UKPress Release7/7/2004Creativity in education scholarship is unique in the UKA unique partnership between Creative Partnerships Hull and Hull University has resulted in the funding of a three year scholarship to look at the role of creativity within the City's education system. This is the only piece of research of its kind currently taking place in the UK and it will be used to inform future policy, practice and professional development in the City. Arts producer Nick Owen from Liverpool, who has been awarded the scholarship, will be questionning teachers, governors, parents, children and other school workers about their experience of creativity as part of the whole school community. His three year PhD, is supported by Creative Partnerships and will compare the experience of those schools which are involved in the programme with other schools using different approaches to learning. Michelle Kent, Creative Programmer for Creative Partnerships in Hull, welcomed the research: "It's fantastic that we are leading the country in carrying out this kind of research" she said. "We are already working with a range of schools in the city to develop different approaches to learning and teaching. Nick hopes to evaluate the effectiveness of these techniques and look at how creativity informs different learning styles. He will also be developing an interactive website which pupils, teachers and parents can contribute to.
