:: Birmingham’s Poet Laureate visits Wolverhampton schools to celebrate World Book DayPress Release23/2/2005Birmingham’s Poet Laureate visits Wolverhampton schools to celebrate World Book DayBirmingham’s Poet Laureate, Don Barnard will come to Wolverhampton to celebrate World Book Day on 3 March 2005. Don will work with pupils from four schools from the ‘Believing in Achieving Excellence in Cities Action Zone’ (Stow Heath Infants, Stowlawn Primary, East Park Infants and East Park Junior) throughout the day. The zone will also launch their new publication Celebrating Writing on World Book Day. The publication, professionally designed and produced by Born Communication, features a four-page double spread by each of the eight schools in the zone and will be available to all schools in the area. All schools in the zone are part of the Creative Partnerships programme in the Black Country. Creative Partnerships are pleased to see wonderful partnership working across the schools in terms of producing resources and maximising resources. Notes for editors Don Barnard was appointed Birmingham’s Poet Laureate on 7th October 2004. He has been writing and performing for ten years and holds an MA in Writing Poetry. Believing in Achieving Excellence in Cities Action Zone includes East Park Infant School, East Park Junior School, Deansfield High School, Stow Heath Infant School, Stow Heath Junior School, Eastfield Primary School, Stowlawn Primary School and Wednesfield Village Primary School. Born Communication are a graphic design company based at The Creative Industries Centre in Wolverhampton Science Park, who specialise in working with schools and young people to produce high quality printed and web based promotional literature.
