:: The King's School presents at the national Dance Platform 2005Press Release8/3/2005The King's School presents at the national Dance Platform 2005The King’s School, Wolverhampton, has been chosen by the Specialist Arts and Sports Colleges to perform at their Dance Platform 2005, at LABAN, London on 19 - 20March 2005. The school will be holding a rehersal day with Blue Eyed Soul dance company on Thursday 17 March from 10am – 2.30pm before travelling to London. There will be an opportunity to interview pupils and time for a photo call. The King’s School worked with Blue Eyed Soul dance company to produce a dance piece that explores the issue of citizenship. The project is part of The King’s Creative Partnerships programme that is exploring cultural diversity, refugees and citizenship. The project is one of eight selected from across the country to be shown at the Dance Platform and is a true indication of the innovative work being carried out by the school. The National Dance platform is a two day residential event held from 19 - 20 March 2005 and will include a series of choreography and technique workshops. Eight students from The King's will attend the academy. On the Saturday evening, eight Best Practice dances (including The King's School) from across the country will be performed. The event is organised by the Specialist Schools Trust/National Dance Teachers Association. Recognised as the national voice for dance education, the NDTA is the only nation-wide association focusing specifically on dance in schools.
